Fiction Fridays

She breathes in deep and pulls her knees up to her chest. Turning to look out the window she takes it all in. Dewy green grass, still wet from an early morning rain. A cotton-tailed bunny rabbit that reminds her very much of Peter Rabbit hops across the yard. Her thoughts are suddenly interrupted by the whistling of the tea kettle. She jumps just a bit as her bare feet touch the cold kitchen floor. Tiptoeing across the linoleum she turns off the gas flame and fills her cup with steaming water. Returning to her place at the table she tucks her feet under her and thinks of all of last nights dreams once again. Her fingers gently trace the curves and dips in the tables surface. She shivers just a little and wraps both hands around her mug. She takes a sip and allows the sweet flavors of spicy chai to cascade over her. A simple pencil holds her strawberry blonde tresses in places. Big, mocha colored eyes, shaded by lush, full lashes peer at the world with curiosity. She wears pink and white flannel pajamas. Breathing deeply once more she realizes, "It's time to start the day. This sunrise stillness doesn't last forever."

Stories, so many stories have been busily brewing in my mind for the past few days. I love the simplicity of this one. It leaves something to the imagination and allows you to fill in the blanks for yourself.
Have a lovely day, loves and enjoy the sunrise stillness while it lasts.

xoxo, em
